Hi all, nice to meet you. Well I had r.n.y

Surgery 8 years ago in October. I lost 175 pounds then fell I'll. I have Lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis and all the constant pain and problems that are a part of that.

But, not here to pity party myself but Celebrate being able to maintain the weight loss for 6 years despite steroidal medicines and being in a wheelchair when I leave the house.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to lose the excess thigh and belly skin?

Part of the walking problems is how the skin moves around making me off balance. Weird I know :) But anyway, I had the lower belly skin removed (aprin?) 2 years after surgery but my insurance won't cover anything more.

I'm sure you all know how chaffed you can get and with loose stuff and umm...breast skin, rash happens under there too. So, feeling pretty depressed with still needing 40 pounds off and looking like a starving elephant lol, could sure use some good advice.

Oh and started the "reset you pouch" program today. Whenever I realize I'm eating to much I step back and reset :)

Now for a magic skin proofing button.

Thanks all, Cara in Oklahoma

Here you go, I find the first 2 days a

Pain in the bum but it will help if you let it. I've done this a couple times over the years to get back in control. I found this place(this app) through this website...Hadn't before. Anyway, this experience is nothing like it was after surgery. Because, This time it really tests your willpower and the training your nutritionist worked so hard on with you. (I hope)

Best wishes

Unfortunately there is no magic skin poofing button. LOL I wish!

I have lost 152lbs and have a lot of the same issues with chaffing. Even so without long history of having that skin problem documented most insurances will not cover removing it, because they say it's cosmetic. I say BS.

I had a terrible time with my bat wings....they were very large and even though I had gotten to my optimal weight I still had residual fat and tons of leftover skin and no matter what I did, nothing helped. I did not even realize how badly it pulled on my neck. So I pain 5950.00 to have them removed 5 weeks ago.

I have to do the same with my stomach and breasts because everything is hanging low pulling on my spine. I have osteoarthritis of the spine and have had 6 back surgeries so far. Hoping to hold off another one. Anyway, you think insurance would cover these things given Morbid obesity is a metabolic disease. Yikes!

It will cost me another 18K to have both my Abdominalplasty and breast lift with augmentation.

That is the bad news.....the good news is there are excellent surgeons out there who can do this kind of work if you can raise the funds to do it.

It is the only way I know of taking that skin off your body. It simply will not go away without it.

Thanks for the response and phooey..no such anti skin matter button.sigh :) So tired of opioid pain meds. I just want to be able to walk and to not get sores. And have my back and neck not in constant pain.

Well, I swore I would do anything in my power to have my kids go to and graduate college. On the last one now and not likely to have the cash for use on myself and personal comfort. By the time I did, I'd probably be considered to high a risk because of age lol.

Take care and I'm rooting for you...

Oh my poor you!!! I'm living in reverse of you- RA and all the years of high dose (60mg day) oral pred plus monthly decadron on IV along with not being able to move PUT my weight on!!! Since surgery I've been (knock wood) in remission. Good luck and if you do find the no-skin poof button let me know!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
