NewNewMe 277 Posted August 20, 2016 I recall a very sad time when I got on a roller coaster to find I didn't fit. This was before they had the special large passenger seats available. I was so embarrassed to be taken off the ride in front of everyone leaving my frightened kids to ride alone. I never tried again and had not been on a coaster in many years. Last week my son and I went to Busch Gardens in VA. I road every coaster! It was such a huge NSV for me. The odd thing is that I was still afraid I would get kicked off even though I knew I fit like everyone else. I don't think I will ever shake that feeling that I am still my old size. cbonet 336 Posted August 20, 2016 Good for you and your son. I often think of the things I couldn't do with my kids and the times the must have been embarrassed by my weight, especially on the beach. So happy your getting a second chance. Good luck to you. My surgery is 9/13 Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App
melbell2222 244 Posted August 20, 2016 Can't Waite to ride with my 7 year old. We went to the fair in July and I could barely fit! My fat was hanging over the bars and I was so squished. Next year we plan to go to Busch gardens and ride the rides too.... I'm so glad you were able to ride all the coasters Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Dub 9,922 Posted August 20, 2016 Well done. Took my 17 year old and several of his friends to Carowinds two weeks ago. I was suckered into riding a beast of a rollercoaster with them. Scared my old arse to death. Crazy times, but fun times. I'm not into rollercoasters....at all......but I couldn't resist the urge to sit in the seat and buckle up and slam down the harness lock with vigor and fit in there just fine. The near 100 mph freefall a couple minutes later.............aw hell no.....never again, lol.
Curvvychrissy 4 Posted August 23, 2016 That is so awesome. I experience a similar experienced when I was around 20. Went to six flags, was doing great on the rides. Then I got to one of the rides with my sister, I was so emotional after I realized I couldn't fit. I haven't been back to a theme park since. Honestly after a loss some weight, I probably want do a theme park now because I am chicken, but I do want to rock climb and other fun activities that my weight has stopped me from enjoying.
