I have very thick hair but it did start falling out, great big chunks of it whenever I washed it. My hairdresser commented on it. I think that this loss is now slowing down. *hurray!*

I have to agree with some of you girls. I have excitment for the surgery and preparing myself to consume much less food, but my hairIts long, to my mid back, thick and shiny light brown. I want to be known for my hair and my weight loss. It has taken 4 years of trims to get it like this. Can I do something now, before the surgery to prepare for this?

Anything you do will be busy work so you feel like you are at least doing something. People will swear their docs say increase Protein, try Biotin, etc. In reality, it will fall out if it is going to fall out and stop when it is going to stop.

Hi CyndiLou,

I was banded at Lahey in Burlington by Dr. Brams too.

How are you doing with your hairloss?

I was banded on 10/4/07 & I have been having port pain lately, I don't understand it, having this surgery is so not easy. I haven't had any fills yet and at this point I am so hungry for all kinds of foods. I am hoping this changes with a fill, because I am afraid to gain what I have lost.

Can anyone relate to this?? The port pain upsets me

Janet

i bought some Biotin today.

also got some pantene pro v texture mousse and the full and thick hairspray. decided i would try a little of both.

the mousse has wax in it. now i feel like my hair weighs a ton.

but it does look a little thicker.

i am sure wasabubblebutt is right but i have to do something.

today when i combed my hair there was more on the comb than i have ever seen in my life.

I'm spending $30 on 5oz of Shampoo and another $30 on 5oz of conditioner for thin hair. It's not doing a bloody thing but I keep buying it anyway so I am at least doing something.

Mine quit falling out but it hasn't started growing back yet. Time will tell.

You can get a special shampoo/treatment at a mall-salon. It is called Nioxcin and it is specific for cancer and weight loss patients. It is not cheap (around 40 dollars) but our hair is important! I am new to banding- only about 5 weeks out from surgery-- but my mom had GBS 6 years ago and she used the shampoo-- it worked wonders for her!

Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
