NOVAMOM348 20 Posted August 18, 2016 I decided to have the gastric bypass surgery about a week and a half ago. I have an appointment with my PCM Sept, 6th. My insurance is Tricare. My question is....does my PCM decide if I get to continue the process of getting GBP? Is my PCM the person who will have me do the 3-6 month supervised program? Just curious. Tayfusion 7 Posted August 18, 2016 I have Medicaid. My pcp had to send a letter of medical necessity to the weight loss center but the NP at the facility is supervising my medical visits for 6 months and not my pcp. I have health alliance connect of Illinois.

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Hi Novamom! Welcome! I just got my approval today and I have Tricare Prime Remote West. I went to my PCM and talked to him about my weight and then because he agreed I was a good candidate and with everything I had tried it was my best option he then put in a referral with Tricare for a consultation. If the doctor you go to is like mine you have to go to a seminar and then meet all of your requirements before they will even do your consult.
