Surgery time was bumped twice the day before but it's done. 24 hours in hospital. Doing so much better than expected. Met a buddy walking in the hall. Being diligent to stay hydrated but sip. The gas is unpleasant but manageable. Headed for a nap.

I just got approval. Thought it would be in November.. but found out my date is on HALLOWEEN!!! Holy Crapcake!! Tomorrow, I begin my liquid pre-op diet. I am a wreck!

Please, anyone who's had their sleeve done within the past few weeks.. speak to me. Tell me how you did right after surgery. How was recovery? How was the pain? Did you take GasX strips? How are you now? Should I wear a costume to the operating room? (just kidding about the last question)

My surgeon is Marc Bessler ... did anyone have him as their surgeon?

Haha, sorry I'm laughing but I hope the nurses and surgeon aren't in costume

On a serious note, I had my surgery on the 5th. About 4 hours of nausea which I later found out was a common reaction to morphine. It stopped when they switched the morphing to 'on demand'. Ask about that if u feel sick.

I never needed any pain relief at all. I also had my gallbladder out as well! I've had worse period pains.

I went to see a movie two evenings later. You'll be fine. Think positive and think of the sexy Halloween costume you'll be wearing next year.

Good luck and we're all thinking of you

Mine 10/18. I found the chewable gas x far more effective than strips. My challenge has been staying ahead of nausea and gas. This means waking to take meds before it's unpleasant. Easier than I expected.

Fellow October sleevers, I just wanted to share that someone told me about a great app. Baritastic. It really helps to track your food and fluids. Make sure you log your measurements and weight before your surgery and it will make a nice graph showing progress.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
