Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

No longer stalled. But eating food is VERY challenging.

@@Hiraeth That sucks! I know it's difficult living paycheck to paycheck. Do you have a costco or BJs wholesale club near you? They have good prices on Premier Protein drinks. Grab some refried Beans, canned tuna, cheese, eggs, etc. Buy a chicken to boil to make your own broth (has more protein) and then purer the chicken meat and make some different meals with that. Good luck.

I actually have a Sam's Club. I wonder if they have good deals on Protein Drinks? I may have to swing by there today and check. Thanks so much! :)

Thanks Hun! That's a challenge for me at the moment because I'm so used to being a gulper, lol! But I am doing better. Thanks so much! :)

@@Hiraeth,

Congratulations on getting over your stall!

I, too, am surprised that you are eating noodles this early. The only way I would expect you to eat them would be pureed and watered down, and even then I would be surprised. What you describe sounds like classic food intolerance that comes with eating foods too early. Symptoms would be fullness that comes way too soon and way too harshly, and pain like you ate way too much even though you didn’t. Plus, since you said you had trouble eating the noodles slowly, that would definitely make those symptoms way worse.

How are you doing with other foods and Protein shakes? Has anything changed; that is, is there anything that you can’t tolerate now that you used to be able to tolerate? Of course you should definitely contact your doctor whenever you’re worried, but from what you described, it doesn’t sound too worrying if there are no other red flags.

Good luck, and keep us posted on how you feel and what the doctor says if you reach out!

Thank you for your response, Alex! I am almost certain that the noodles were just a bad idea because of an intolerance for them. When I drink Protein Shakes and other things, I sometimes feel a little nauseous; but I think that maybe I'm getting ahead of myself and drinking too fast. It's challenging, but I am quickly learning about what I can and can't do. I've noticed that Powerade Zero is not like it used to be. When it first hits my tongue, it tastes amazing. But once I swallow it, and let it hit my stomach, it's just not as pleasant as it used to be. It's hard to describe how it makes me feel, but mostly I think it's making me feel a little sick to my stomach. I bought a ton of them for me to drink after surgery, so I think I'm just going to stick with Protein Shakes, Crystal Light, and Diet V8 Splash for my liquid. eggs are such a life saver right now! :D

I was told not more than 4 oz of liquids every 1/2 hour. So you don't stretch out. I feel the 4 oz of Protein shake in my tummy so there is no way I could power through 11 oz anyways.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
