Checking off that List!

Recommended Posts

So excited, today I finally finished everything I needed to do for preparing, short of my liquid diet and packing my suitcase!

12 days out! Finished and sent bloodworm today, final test results all sent to Dr, Checks al sent to Hospital, anesthesiologist, Surgeon, etc

Now to focus on eating healthy until day before surgery, weaning off caffeine, soft drinks Desserts and anything else that doesn't help me reach my goal!

Next, I start making my lists of things I need to pack, and stock up for my pre-op 24 hours!

My consult was 7/20 and Surgery was scheduled 8/30. Went a lot faster than I realized. Here I come my future self!!

Make sure to go on the tour and you don't want to miss the show they have in ER #3. You're allowed two suitcases and a carry on.......... :P .

I knew when I saw "suitcase in the first line it had to be a female. Relax, I'm just bustin your chops.

And they wonder why it's said "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus."

I walked in with shorts & a tee shirt on wearing flip flops. That's it. Traipsed around the halls in a gown for ten minutes ......put the shorts and tee back on for the remainder of my time there and left a couple of days later in the same clothes I waltzed in wearing. But, then again......I'm a guy. I don't think I own a suitcase. LOL

What's my point......? I've been thru a few surgeries. For the sleeve, you're gonna be either walking the halls or sleeping. And you won't care about reading or texting or calling anybody......just sleeping or like the commercial for

with the guy making the Donuts......" Time to make the Donu.....err "Time to walk the halls" ;)

You're gonna do just fine......enjoy the rest. Leave everything else at home.

Had my sleeve surgery yesterday. Am not able to eat or drink at all yet. Had a few teaspoons of chicken broth a couple of times, but it gave me horrible acid reflux and stomach pain. My stomach just isn't ready to handle anything. Even a few sips of Water gives me heartburn. Water! :o)

Am looking forward to healing and getting out on my bike. Want to get this party started!

Hope you feel better soon, so I saw that you want to get out on your bike what do you ride, street, sidewalk, beach cruiser? I can not ride for 6 weeks after surgery I have a road bike and a sidewalk bike. I can't wait to get riding again also.

After years of back misery caused by "regular" bike, I invested in a three-wheel recumbent several years ago. I ride trails and streets, mostly trails because my lower height makes me less visible on streets. I just moved to FL from Indiana and really miss Indy's Monon Trail. I love biking, too! Hope you can back on the road soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
