ChunkyMonkeyGoneSlim 7 Posted August 17, 2016 I thought my nutrion plan was pretty lenient. Stage one Clear liquids for 4 days. Then stage two full liquids for 11-15 days. Then stage three moist or soft foods for 14 days including low fat crackers, half a piece of toast, and chopped or ground meat. Stage four foods for life. Which means eat whatever in moderation. Well, just a bit ago I was talking to my cousin who's a policeman who was sleeved six months ago. He emailed his diet plan that allowed lasagna roll ups at 14 days!! Pasta at 14 days post op? WOW!! And I was drilled about not eating untoasted bread, pasta and rice for 6 months. What are your guys post surgery diets like? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Cervidae 2,389 Posted August 17, 2016 (edited) Mine was very similar to yours, only it never did and still doesn't include crackers/bread/pasta. At one year out, the "lifestyle" plan I'm now on is all Protein, veggies with whatever room I have left, and fruits occasionally if I can tolerate them. We're also allowed good carbs like Beans and quinoa/brown rice in moderation (once or twice a week) and potatoes, preferably red skin, once a week at most. My nut encourages Fiber but doesn't like wheat products because she says they're just a carb vehicle to get you Fiber but there are other ways that are lower in carbs and better for your glucose levels/digestion. OzRoo 1,492 Posted August 17, 2016 For me it was: 2 weeks liquids, then 2 weeks purees, then 2 weeks soft/mushy, then gradual change to solids. No starchy carbs or baked goods, just regular vegetables, like zucchini, bok choy, spinach, cauliflower, and fruit, and healthy crisps (Cruskits) were allowed, and good, lean Proteins. Plus a visit to NUT at every food phase change. When I "experimented" with slider foods like ice-cream or frozen yoghurt, my weight-loss stalled. sbg224 318 Posted August 17, 2016 Mine was no rice, bread or Pasta for 6 months and no alcohol for 1 year. Low carbs forever, never heard of anyone being allowed Pasta, let alone that soon, that's really unusual. Even now 1 year out, I try y best to do no carbs, well low carbs. Moogle 116 Posted August 17, 2016 First week - liquids / Jello / popsicles / Protein shakes 1-4 - Above + Egg Drop Soup 4-8 - Above + Seafood (except shrimp) / cheese / Tofu 8-15 - Above + Poultry / Non-starchy vegetables 15+ - We'll see when I get there. I'm not allowed any carbs. No crackers, no toast. When I want something crunchy and salty I make my own cheese crisps in the oven (which were allowed in week 4). At first I got frustrated because I thought mine was restrictive, but my team knows what is best. I'm down 52lbs in 10 weeks between the pre-op diet and surgery. I can't complain. I am thankful that I didn't have to do a puree stage. The idea of that makes me want to throw up in my mouth a little. Well, except for ricotta bake. I did have that a few times in my third stage! summerset 5,265 Posted August 17, 2016 Clear Liquids starting the evening after surgery and the next day. Liquids and yoghurt/quark on the second post-op day for 4 weeks. You might want to check what patients are allowed to eat after stomach surgery that isn't weight loss related. It's interesting to compare. No Pasta, bread or rice "forever" (or anything doughy that expands in stomach). I remember seeing a post from a woman who was eating lasagna (pureed) a week after surgery because she felt she should be able to eat what her family was eating. I always wonder how those people make out in the long run. Even if my plan allowed pasta - I wouldn't be having it - it's a major factor in why I'm fat! Were Italian so for us leaving pasta out is like leaving a part of us. But, I can do it I weighed 279 April 7th of the year. On the day of surgery I weighed 244. It's exactly two weeks later and I am down to 218. So, I'll skip the pasta. I was just blown away that they recommend it for him that soon and even had directions for the lasagna roll up.
