bostonbritt 15 Posted August 16, 2016 Hi I am preop surgery for band to bypass on 8/24. I have read a lot about Hair loss and that Nioxin was great for regrowth However after researching it appears they recently changed the Nioxin formula and it's no good anymore. Any other tips to preventing hair loss or at the very least assisting with regrowth? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Kimberlyerin 6 Posted August 16, 2016 I do hair for a living, dioxin isn't as strong as it used to be, but it takes time to work on you hair like a month to feel results. Paul Mitchell came out with a great new product that works on thinning hair. It has a Shampoo and conditioner and even a scalp treatment. I use it at home and I've noticed a difference. graham99 6 Posted August 17, 2016 Ok I lost a lot of hair when I had the gastric bypass. Key is Biotin and make sure you take your multiple Vitamins daily. I use Shampoo & conditioner with Biotin in it too. Zinc helps too Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
CharlotteKat 90 Posted August 20, 2016 The clinical term for our kind of hair loss is telogen effluvium. Nioxin does not work and neither does minoxidil. Don't waste your money or believe anyone who is trying to sell you a product to make your hair grow. I had a hairdresser try to push me into buying some very expensive stuff. I said no after doing my research. Our low calorie diet is why we lose our hair. All you can do is make sure you get enough Protein and Biotin. When you return to a normal diet, hair will grow again. Mudgy6 88 Posted August 22, 2016 I started taking a Vitamin for hair skin and nails. Now my hair feels really dry, but it's growing Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Kimberlyerin 6 Posted August 22, 2016 Yeah. There are all types of technical terms of Hair loss. Nioxin is clinically proven to work. People expect results in a few days of using it, when it needs a continuing use for a month. It works if the hair follicle instead dead. If it's not dead it helps hair come in stronger and more healthier. There are other brands who have similar items. BUT! The key is to take your Vitamins. Your Multivitamin should include Biotin and Vitamin D which are crucial to you and your hair. Also, you can't believe everything you read on the internet.. I hope this helps and i am not trying to push you on products. But I have knowledge of these things from being in this profession and from many hours of school in for this stuff.
