I am two weeks one day postop and just started mushy foods/blenderized foods a couple days ago. I am really struggling easier to eat mushy rather than blenderized. Anyway the last couple of days when I eat a dick couple tablespoons of food I am having a hard time getting in my three Proteins and Water. Is anyone else having this problem? I had a scrambled egg this morning with A few threads of cheese and haven't been hungry all day!

I have to do 3 weeks of mushy. Yes it is a challenge but starting to figure it out. I drink Protein Drink in the morning. snack 2 hours later of half cup cottage cheese. lunch either deli ham 2 oz and 1 low fat string cheese or fat free refried Beans with tiny bit of cheese melted on it. An egg at dinner or 4 ounces of roasted skinless chicken thigh or salmon. It is a challenge but if i get my 2 Snacks between Breakfast and between lunch and dinner i get it in. Hope this helps. Tiny bites and chew really well.

You will definitely still need Protein Shakes to supplement what you can't get from food. In fact, you'll probably need those for quite some time. There are lots of options for Protein shakes/drinks, so look into different flavors, or even unflavored and add it to your food.

I have been using the Beneprotein, i mix it with broth and apple sauce. Not great but not bad.

It gets much easier to make your Protein goals when you move into the solid food phase. 2oz of chicken breast, for instance, which will be totally doable by the point, is almost 14g of Protein. In the meantime, definitely supplement with Protein shakes as you can, but concentrate first on making sure you make your hydration goals.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
