Need help in finding a fill doctor

Recommended Posts

I was planning to get my fills at Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti but was informed when I called that Dr. Kam is leaving and is booked solid till he leaves Nov. 1. I have already called about 8 different Bariatric surgeons and no one will do an outside fill.

Does your doctor do fills from people who have gone to Mexico for their band? Can you give me a name and phone number. I really need a fill bad.

Call the lapband center of michigan in port huron. They will do it if you have complete medical records from your lapband surgeon sent over.

;I spent the who day online and on the phone, searching for a fill doctor. I went to the Inamed website and checked out list of seminars within a 100 mile radius and then called them all (plus others) and this is what (or should I say who) I found.

Port Huron Hospital: 810-989-3328 Two charges, one for hospital and one for the surgeon. Runs about $132.00

Kalamazoo: 269-978-0610 Consultation $100.00 and if they do fill at the same day, cost is $250.00 Additional fills $200.00

Hillsdale: 517-437-5350 Fills are $110.00&lt

;Flint: McLaren Bariatrics 888-342-5470 $190.00 for the facilities and $225.00 for a fill. (I think I can just about go back to Mexico for this price)

Ypsilanti: Barix Clinic Dr. Kam did fills but he is leaving Nov. 1 and he is booked solid and not taking new patients. They do not have a replacement for him yet. So, they might still do them after Nov. when a new doctor comes on board.

Detroit area hospitals either haven't called me back or they don't do fills for outside patients.

This is my list........I won't list the dozen or more that don't do fills for outside patients. Trust me, this is what I came up with within a 100 mile radius.

Has anyone used any of these places ? And how was it?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
