@@roni56 Assuming you are getting surgery because you are morbidly obese or obese with comorbities - the chance of dying prematurely from obesity related disease is much greater than mortality rates from surgery. You're doing this so you will have many healthy years with your little girl! Good luck!

What do you have left to do? And have you got any of the Vitamins?

I hope you meant to ask me...

I have samples that the nutritionist gave me but no I have not gotten my Vitamins. Honestly I'm trying to figure out what will meet the requirements but still be cost efficient because I don't want to spend a bunch of money monthly for vitamins.

I have nothing left to do except for whatever they do preop. I start my diet tomorrow. Other than that I'm just waiting until the date. You?

Omg I need to do everything.. Medical clearance, X-ray, ekg, bloodwork.. And I have my preop on the 1st.. And my class on the 24..

My doctors office wouldn't give me a date until I had all of my evaluations done. I had to be cleared by the nutritionist, and the psychologist first. My insurance had to approve me first too. My insurance company has assigned a case manager nurse whom has had the surgery as well so I can ask her all the questions!

I guess that's why I'm not nervous because I'm pretty much there. My biggest hurdle will be this pre op diet for the next three weeks!

@@charmming i has my psych evaluation and the medical necessity letter plus 3 month of nutritionist for my insurance to approve 2.. But the medical clearance and the blood work it has to be a list 1 month old and I just finish my nutritionist app like 1 week ago so the surgery is moving pretty fast for me.!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
