I would love to hear everyone's experience with there pre-op diets. I start mine tomorrow for 2 weeks. What helped make it easier and what made it harder. Is there anything you wish you would have known then ? Did you cheat ? Were you moody ? Tell me the details

I had to drink 4 shakes a day but I could also have 1 serving each of Yogurt, unflavored applesauce, sf pudding, sf Jello, 1/2 cup cooked veggies & 1/2 cup oatmeal

I spaced my meals out every 2 hrs. It seemed that I was constantly eating. So it took the urge to snack away.

I did not cheat..I was afraid of having surgery delayed/canceled if I didn't lose enough.

I was extremely tired the first couple of days but felt better on day 3.

Don't be afraid to be around people who are eating. I Carried my lunch box (it looks like a purse) everywhere filled with things that I could eat. Not one eatery/movie theater said anything to me.

I can have 4 shakes day , 8 oz of skim milk, 1 cup of sugar free pudding with Protein powder mixed in , and a cup of low carb yogurt . And then the usual unlimited Popsicles broth and stock . @@cindyw41 I am going to try the every 2 hrs to eat., that sounds helpful . My husband took me out to dinner and my stomach is in knots because I'm so nervous. But I know I got this !!

Once I was past the first 3 days, I wasn't hungry anymore. Ketosis kicked in and took over. After that it was a breeze. You'll do great!

The schedule does vary depending on your doc. Mine wants 10 days of shakes with one cup of veg per day no solids at all. I am at day two of my second pre-op. This is my second pre-op as I also did one for my band several years ago. I'm having a sleeve done now after an erosion. I agree with Cindy that after the first few days it gets way easier. Trust me 100% once you're done surgery and seeing results these two weeks will be a distant memory! One month post op on my band I was laughing about how much I whined... :)

Now focus, you've got this!

Keep busy and follow your surgeons plan. It will soon be a distant memory! It works! CRystal Light and Dasani sweetener adds great flavors to Protein shakes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
