Definitely during the beginning stages. You want it to go down as smooth as possible. I still add something if what I'm eating is really dry.

@ homemade chili...sound yummy did you purée that?Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yes I did purée the ground beef and tomatoes. We had chili for Thanksgiving, after my sleeve. I craved spicy foods, and I was ble to get my fix with the chili and also with a couple teaspoons of refried Beans with taco sauce. YUmmy!

I'm writing all of this down. I'm going to need ideas. I was also wondering, I have read where people said that after the sleeve, they no longer liked foods they liked before. Have you ever heard of people LIKING things they DIDN'T like before?

I love everything I loved before. Three years after the sleeve I am doing shakes again every day.

Ok. I hope the nutritionist teaches me all about this before my surgery. It just seems like so much to learn!

I had 7 months of nutrition classes prior to surgery. Each month we added information to a large binder that I can refer back to if I have a question. My surgeon definitely makes sure his patients are prepared.

I'd suggest making a list of questions. That way when you see your Nut you're not overwhelmed and forget stuff.

I have been keeping a notebook for all of my questions. I was told that I will have 3 appts with a nutritionist. I can have 3 visits covered by my health ins, so I will probably save those for after my surgery.

I've always put Texas Pete's hot sauce in my chili. Has anyone tried this during the puree stage? How did your stomach handle it?

I would be careful with that. Three years later our surgeon has told us to limit the spicy foods. A lot of heartburn, Omeprazole. I sure love spicy and hot though. Never had severe acid heartburn til now.

I know people have added hot sauce in this stage. Just take it slow.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
