Babbs 14,681 Posted August 16, 2016 I had surgery August 22, 2014 and started vaping in June in order to quit smoking by my surgery. I just tapered down the nicotine in the vape until I was down to 0. Then I lost interest in the vape. Over 2 years smoke free and I'm prouder of that than the weight loss Good Luck! Babbs 14,681 Posted August 16, 2016 It IS hard! On top of it I was on a medically supervised diet per my insurance. Can you imagine?? Trying to quit smoking AND dieting? It's no wonder I didn't kill someone.
Jane1979 270 Posted August 16, 2016 How long do you have to be smoke free to have the surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
GSleeve822 394 Posted August 16, 2016 My Dr said I had to not smoke for 2 weeks before surgery, so I basically told myself I could do anything for 2 weeks. Sometime in that process I realized I didn't want to have to go through quitting again and decided to stick with it. I truly hated not smoking for the better half of 3 months but I'm glad I stuck with it. I used toothpicks to get past the hard times in the car. You'll be better for it, but just remember just because quitting feels bad, it doesn't mean it is bad Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App
