Bored with Breakfast! Any dieticians out there?

Recommended Posts

Some other Breakfast ideas. Cottage cheese mixed with some sugar free jam. Or cottage cheese or ricotta cheese with fresh diced cucumber and / or Tomato. Morningstar farm sausage patties are good and have 10 G Protein. (They also make sausages but haven't tried them yet). I recently made some cottage cheese oatmeal pancakes that were a nice treat. I have also made omelets with one egg and 1-2 egg whites with some shredded reduced fat cheddar and some sautéed veggies (I like mushrooms, onions, and / or zucchini). Saw a recipe for a tofu scramble that I might try (tofu instead of eggs). eggs scrambled with smoked salmon or smokes trout is good.

I am 12 weeks out and trying to minimize the carbs too.

Pssst. I have a secret.

I have managed to lose my weight AND maintain it without a dietitian or NUT. I find most of them don't know squat about what a bariatric patient needs.

Find healthy, non processed stuff loaded with Protein and nutrients you like and go from there!

Actually, that was @@Babbs -- she's hot with a great rack.

Yes, I recall.* Sometimes when the posts are layered like lasagne or mille feuille, a few layers slip off the virtual fork.

*The post that is, not the rack.

You need to see her rack.

there's no way for you to tell who is an RD and who isn't, so any advice you get here from someone who labels themselves a professional in the field should be suspect at the least.

Huh? Just when things were simmering down.

I question whether everyone who claims to have had surgery really has.

This thread has me craving an omelet made some left over Maryland blue crab cake... An advantage to not be able to eat a whole one for diner.

@AmiLou... It is probably obvious at this point that there are not many dietitians hanging out. Few that might be around are also WLS patients too. My NUT did allow thin oatmeal and even mash potatoes during the purée phase... Just to get me through. After that carbs were not forbidden but I should only eat them if I am meeting my Protein requirements. To her the ideal early carbs were green veggies. She warned me about being very careful with Protein Bars. The ones that are edible are usually high in carbs. If you found a tasty one that really is low in carbs please share. I get being bored with food... It happens all the time with me. Eating healthy but tasty variety food is critical for me staying on track. Luckily there are many wise vets (not me I am only 8

Months out) with great ideas for keeping things interesting.

Hell's bells! Some people even claim that they were able to "ignore" it immediately pot op for a spell. ;)

My go to Breakfast is a vegetable omelette made with mushrooms, peppers, and spinach. Some mornings I am tempted to have a slice of toast, but so far I have resisted that temptation. This morning I also had some "hash browns" made with onions and thinly sliced zucchini. It helps having something with a different texture than the omelette.

You need to see her rack.

How easy it is to be generous with someone else's rack.

Babbs, front and center! You heard her. Whip it out.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
