Starting my liquid diet today. Help?

Recommended Posts

Hello wonderful people....today I am starting my liquid diet. I am scheduled for the 29th of august. My surgeon requires that I lose or maintain my current weight but from what I have been reading I decided to take it upon myself to lose some visceral fat, especially around my liver. I have two cartons of chicken broth and have no clue what I'm doing. What were your liquid diets like?

Did you receive a nutrition guide from your surgeon's office?

This is what is on my list for the pre-op liquid phase, but every surgeon is different. May be worth a call to the office!

Pre-op Liquid Phase (2 weeks prior to surgery)

Water

Decaf Coffee/Tea

SF Jello

SF Popsicles

broth

1% Skim Milk

LF Cottage cheese

Light (RedCal) Yogurt

Low Carb Protein shakes

SF pudding

No sugar added fudgesicles

No sugar added hot choc

LF Creamy Soups (strained)

Tomato Soup

Unsweetened applesauce

Cream of wheat/oatmeal or grits (1x per day)

My pre-op diet was 2 Protein shakes and a healthy meal every day. Even with the one meal, that was a very tough 2 weeks. Good luck!

This is good. Much better than what they gave me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
