HI, I'm Traci and was banded in Mexico on 8-9-07 by Dr. Rodriguez. Everything seems to be going very well, except some concern about a hard spot in between my bra line incision and my port incision. The patient cordinator says that it is a seroma and that as long as I'm not running a fever or the spot is red, that I should not be concerned.

Has anyone else had a seroma, if so how long does it take to go away, was there anything that you did to help it go away sooner. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Traci,

I'm not banded yet, but I did develop a seroma in my leg when I had a turmor removed. In general they are nothing to be concerned about as long as there is no infection. In my case, the area that the tumor was in was fairly large and Fluid would build up in there. The incision healed well except for the tiny area where the fluid would squirt out. I would soak a towel with the fluid in about 2 hours. This went on for about 3 months. I had to have a second surgery and doctor #2 "cleaned" the area out and put a drain in to allow the area to drain and heal properly. Both doctors said that normally seromas heal on there own, the fluid is reabsorbed into the body and all is well. My case was alittle different in that the area was so large, and that the incision site wouldn't heal properly because of the pressure of the fluid. I would say if you are very concerned, contact your doctor again. If you still dont have peace about it, contact your PCP. Keep us posted on your progress.
