I was sleeved 5/23/16, and I was on liquids for 2 weeks prior to surgery and 3 weeks post op. I thought I would lose my mind, but I didn't and now I barely remember it. Just keep reminding yourself of the trauma that your stomach went through, and it needs TLC for a bit. It takes a while for swelling to go down. Lots of healing going on. You will get through it, and it's so worth it. Seems like a small bump in the road now that I look back on it. Hang in there; you'll be advancing your diet soon enough. I know it seems like forever!

my doctor required me to do the liquid diet for one month before, and one month after! It flew by after surgery, but the before was difficult. It will be over before you know it, and the moryou follow it, the easier and safer your surgery will me

It will be a distant memory soon...I am so sorry; I hated my liquid phase. The only thing I can really say is that it will be worth it!

Thank you, and you're right. It's just overwhelming at times. [emoji15]

@@JazzyV it is very overwhelming. For me, I think it was one of the hardest things I had ever done related to my eating habits and relationship with food in general. It helps so much to find out how tough you are as you go along in the process.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
