When will i feel better..

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, i just had my surgery on august 26 so today its my 3 weeks post op. I'm kind of happy that i have lost some weight since i got the surgery, but i also been having some not too good moments , i haven't been able to eat anything because of the throwing up and also the pain, my doctor recommended i get back on liquids for a week or so but I'm still having the pains. I'm just wondering if anyone has experience what I'm going through and if so how long before i feel better? Or should i say be able to hold anything down with no pains or not feel sick....

You are further out than me so I can't really offer advice, but I will commiserate! I was really nauseous the first couple days. I had awful cotton mouth that was making me gag on everything. Turns out it was the anti-nausea meds (zofran) causing it. When I stopped those the nausea decreased immensely.

I just keep telling myself this all will pass. A few months from now we'll look back and this will be a distant memory!

"surgery on August 26??? Maybe you meant July 26th.....so I'm guessing you're 3 weeks post surgery. What kind of pain are you having? As far as eating, what have you tried and how much?.....If you're in the soft food stage most folks do well with a scrambled egg....just make it very soft, and you won't be able to eat the whole egg. Most of the time throwing up is caused by eating too much, too fast or the food is not soft enough.....and then there may also be foods that don't agree with you......going back to liquids for a day or two is good, but when you try something again make sure it's just a very small amount.

Everyday will get better.

Good luck and keep us informed on how you're doing.

Thanks for replying, I've actually been taking zofran everyday since my surgery I'm going to try and stop it for a few days and see if its the cause of me being nauseous if it doesn't work i will definitely call the Dr.

Lol.. Yes i actually meant July 26 i was half sleep when i wrote it. I've actually was on phase 2 when the throwing up and the pain started I as of yet haven't eaten any soft foods i was still on puree. Hopefully with time all this will go away , i guess it will be all worth it at the end a healthy me... Thanks for your response.

I'm not sure what's in phase 2 as my plan didn't lable anything by phases.....but no matter what it is, measure it....if it's like pureed foods or full liquids just measure out about a quarter of a cup and eat just that amount.....where you are now the most you should be able to eat is a half of a cup....so just try a quarter of cup and eat that really slow....when I was at your stage all my food go cold before I could finish it...

Hang in there!!

Soon this will all be a distant memory. So many of us here had the shoulder pain and other pains, etc. when in doubt go to the ER. My worst pain was choking on a small bite of chicken six weeks out. Life gets so much better and the fears dissipate with weight loss and a little time.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
