Question/statement

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone love the forum, been a lurker for a month or so I needed to chime in so I created an account. I got my surgery (VSG) on 8/4/16. At 1 week I was down 17 lbs. this week(past couple days) I'm in the creamy week. So ever since surgery I haven't had a full feeling and I feel like I eat and drink quite a lot even from before surgery standards. Constantly sippin Water which I know is good. I was told to increase my Protein which I have for as of the start of this week which adds even more "food" to my diet. On a normal day I eat:

Breakfast: oatmeal mixed with my Protein powder (half scoop) and mixed with almond milk. Ends up being 4oz can't get it down too much because i hate oatmeal so I switched to applesauce which is cool.

Snack:8-9oz Protein shake (which I can drink in about 5 minutes because I don't feel any tightness or anything) I don't drink it that quick but I sip on it til completion.

Lunch: 4oz of yogurt mixed with almond milk(told to soften it up) which I down in about 5-10mins. Again no full or painful feelings.

Snack: 8-9oz Protein Shake again sip until empty

Dinner: 4oz of a puréed Soup.< /p>

Snack: A Jello pudding mixed with coconut water and half a scoop of Protein Powder.

This is a average diet I was told to stick with but I feel is a lot of food. I am seeing weight come off but, my real question is the full feeling is never present, I think it may be because I'm being cautious but like I said I feel like the food I am eating and the amounts maybe small or something but my doctors said I should hit a full filling after consuming 8oz of anything but it hasn't happened yet. Any tips/suggestions? Since my last appointment (3 days ago) I'm already down about 7lbs. I am already working out 'ish again and have a lot of energy. I take my Multivitamins and Calcium. The protein I am drinking is Jay Robb's, I have the vanilla and chocolate kind.

Seems like all doctors are putting their patients on dif stuff.

Backstory: insurance paid 100%. It'll only took 3 months from the time I saw my surgeon til my surgery. It's going well physically. No pain. I'm already out mowing the yard pulling weeds all the normal stuff, tried running again but it felt weird so went back to walking. Surgery was only 10 days ago.

None of the stuff you are eating will trigger restriction. When you have soft foods, that will change.

Lots of people have lots of energy and feel back to normal right away. You still had major surgery though and you should rest, even if you don't feel the need. Your body is trying to recover.

@outsidematchinside. Thank you for the tip. I was worried. I told my doc about mowing and walking long distances. I live alone right now so some things are a must when you live in the city, wasn't able to get someone to mow or get the weeds so I did it myself it wasn't bad but I'll take your advice into consideration thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
