Hi everyone, me again! I was sleeved on 8/8 and while I know it is normal to have low energy (especially on the two weeks post op diet), I'm wondering if anyone found anything to help with this? I feel super anxious and bored being at home but I get so tired as soon as I'm out anywhere. Just seeing if there was anything that worked for people this soon after surgery.

Thanks (as usual)

Kellie

Sleeved on 8/5, and I am having this same issue. Looking forward to seeing what others have to say.

I felt the weight of the world was lifted and went to the malls, even though I never shop. I walked the grocery and really enjoyed relaxing and reading labels, for meal planning. Scanned the Internet for recipes. Took a friend to brunch and sipped a nice brothy Soup. I think if you get outside, even in a lounge chair, it will rejuvenate you. Good luck! Keep busy and enjoy life. It will get better and better!

Thanks. I have been out. I've walked every day that I've been home and over 5 miles today but felt like it was such a struggle. I need to sit down often when before, I could walk for hours and hours without getting tired. Anyway, I know it's normal. Just feeling impatient to get back to normal.

Keep pushing then find your relaxation. I am envious of your ability!

That's a long walk for a week postop. I'd break it up - shorter walks a few times a day!

I had my op 17 June and I have felt absolutely shattered. But now I'm am eating"normal" food now for the past 1 1/2 weeks I can feel my energy levels improving. I found this the hardest thing to cope with. I got upset and frustrated but it really does get better promise

I am 13 days post-op and am struggling with extreme fatigue as well. We recently accepted an offer on our house and have been trying to pack up to move in a couple of weeks. And I returned to my full time desk job 5 days after my surgery. (Gee.....wonder why I might be tired....) I am basically living off of my Protein Shakes, but I still come draggin in the door after work knowing I have to get busy packing boxes. I keep telling myself that I'll rest 'this weekend.' But I just dont see a light at the end of this tunnel. Hopefully going on some solid food in a few days will help.

I'm almost 6 weeks post op and struggle with low energy. I feel like I have to drag my feet to get around. I'm pretty sure I'm not getting enough calories. I'm eating about 200 cals per day.

Upping the Water, taking B12 and adding some calories to see how I feel

Yeah - that's not enough calories (or close to enough). I'm assuming you can't be getting all of your Protein either at only 200 calories. You are starving. You need to increase what you are eating.

If you are only eating 200 calories a day you are definitely not eating enough. What is your Protein target?

Not sure what my target is. I went through diet advancement 1.5 weeks ago so I'm eating according to that chart. No more than 4 oz in Protein Shakes, 1 oz of fish, chicken, deli turkey and soft veggies. No way I can get more than 300-400 calories eating that.

I started on the B12 and today I felt somewhat normal [emoji4]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
