NewAdventure2016 131 Posted August 14, 2016 If you are post-op and were a low BMI patient ... Did you still have Hair loss considering you most likely didn't have a huge amount of weight to lose? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
cmanlick 1 Posted August 14, 2016 Yes I did. I had surgery back in October 2015 and had quite a bit of hair loss for the first 5 months or so. I have very little Hair loss now. What helps is eating/drinking a lot of Protein. I also take a Biotin supplement so I don't end up with really thin hair.< /p>

NewAdventure2016 131 Posted August 17, 2016 Thanks all - well, that's stinks but hoping it will all be worth it! Who knows, maybe I'll like thin hair Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

OzRoo 1,492 Posted August 17, 2016 I am bit over 5 months post op, and didn't have any hair loss. If anything, my hair got healthier and grows really quickly. I am mindful of good Protein intake, taking all the Vitamins and supplements that were recommended to me by my surgeon. So far, so good .....

Not to try to change the subject, but I'm always wondering if I'm taking all the supplements that others are recommended. I thought I would be taking more after surgery. I am currently taking a Multivitamin, Calcium, B12, gallbladder (medicine just for a few more months)- (and I take Biotin, by my choice) Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App
OzRoo 1,492 Posted August 17, 2016 @@Pup up till about 2 months ago, I was taking the bariatric chewable BN Multi, with B12 in a spray, Calcium and vit C. 2 months ago I tried taking my regular multivit, and it made me nauseous, however I can take it now. It is much stronger than BN Multi, and initially I would cut it in half, and take it twice a day. Now I can take whole Biovea Multivitamin, still take B12, Calcium, Magnesium, vit C, Fish Oil and zinc. If your Vitamins are working well for you, then that's the main thing. And of course good quality Protein every day.
wheelem 31 Posted April 23, 2017 What Biotin do most of you take with good results and no facial Hair growth? Im beginning to lose my hair and don't want that to happen because Im growing it for donation to Children with Hair loss and still need another couple of inches before I can donate. teacupnosaucer 445 Posted April 23, 2017 I'm four weeks out. Definitely losing more hair than I would normally, but it's not distressing or noticeable other than in the shower when I wash my hair and wind up with five or six hairs stuck to my fingers. But I haven't had any complications and am doing very well hitting my Protein goals.
NewAdventure2016 131 Posted April 24, 2017 Starting about 5 months out I started losing it and am now at 8 months and still losing (hair). I don't think there's much you can do to stop or slow it down. Biotin is good because when the time comes and the old has stopped falling, you will have already pushed out some new growth. Seems to be working for me.
pretty.ruby 35 Posted April 24, 2017 I have been doing low carb, high Protein, low fat and under 1200 Cal since I decided to go for surgery this time around. Today is my pre surgical consult. Unfortunately I am very prone to Hair loss having had thyroid cancer and now with my thyroid removed. My hair is falling already and not just a few in the drain. It's in the bed, against the head rest of my recliner etc and filling my wide toothed comb even though my Proteins are very good and I am on Biotin and really good multi Vitamin and use a Shampoo that reports to help prevent it. I truly believe by the time I reach my goal weight I will be wearing wigs. BTW my start bmi was very high.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using BariatricPal mobile app
