Pending Insurance Approval....

Recommended Posts

Great Afternoon! I went into this process thinking it would take months to complete. It has been surprisingly easy and now that my file will be submitted to the insurance company for approval Monday, I'm getting anxious. My procedure could be done as early as the first week of September. I plan to buy all the shakes, broth, and Jello, ect. this week. I am going to start my liquid diet next week. I don't have any local support during this process as I haven't told anyone that I've decided to do it. I also have to have a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time(adding to my anxiety). I will be relying heavily on this app to connect with like minded people. Good luck everyone!

My paperwork was submitted yesterday, 8/15 and can take up to 10 business days for processing. My surgeon's schedule is 1 month out, so I am probably looking at end of September or early October. I hate this waiting, I just want to know if I am approved or not.

I received a call this morning to schedule me as the approval was faxed back to the office the same day!!!???!!! I didn't expect it to happen this fast. I thought I would have more time to prepare. I don't know how to feel... Is my health that bad? I'm still trying to process it all. September 6th is the day!

You are lucky! I'm sure your health isn't any worse than the rest of us - you qualified surgery and your insurance approved. My approval was fast too - it's the rest that's been dreadfully slow. Congrats!

You're right. I think I may have been in slight denial about my weight. This was a reality check for sure.

OMG we're TWINS!! The hernia repair has me a little concerned but I'm glad both will be done at the same time. Good luck to you as well!

I think you might be over thinking it. Maybe the insurance company hired more people to help get things done faster! Lol coming from customer service, we always under promise, and over deliver.

You're right. I asked my coordinator and she said the 2 days is the longest Bcbs has taken to respond.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
