gina171 626 Posted August 13, 2016 My RNY is this Thursday (HOW is it even possible that it is almost here???!!!), and my brain is fried. I can't think straight. I start one task then stop halfway through and do something else. I walk upstairs to get something then forget why I am there. I'll have a conversation with someone and nod politely, but inside my head I am not listening to a word they are saying, just thinking "A week from right now I will be 2 days post-op!" I have no second thoughts, I am excited to get to the other side, but ..... I am just amazed it's really happening. I have so much to get done, I only really have 2 days to prep BC I am going on a short trip to move my daughter into college right before surgery (literally the day before, but I won't be doing any lifting at all since I'll be on Clear liquids that day...there for moral support only). So much to do and I can't even get my mind calmed down enough to write a list. Normal? Please say it is? bypasswitch 30 Posted August 13, 2016 it is so normal! i would vacuum the house several times just to keep busy, my boyfriend would get mad because if i couldnt sleep, id vacuum haha i also prepped last minute, but it helped get me through a day of anxiousness by running all the errands i needed. it will be okay, i promise you! once you wake up you will be so relieved and can start this new journey. i wish you so much luck, you will do great! bypasswitch 30 Posted August 13, 2016 my surgery was 7/18, so im about 3 and a half wks post op! i have lost 33 pounds since then and have been very lucky recovery wise, no problems what so ever! i hope its the same for you, make sure to walk as much as possible, it helps SO much with releasing some of the gas. also if your nurses allow it, gas-x strips, some wont allow outside meds. Sophies mommy 15 Posted August 13, 2016 I got teary eyed feeling like someone "understands" what I am feeling right now. My surgery is the 19th this Friday and those I tell I am nervous think it means I'm changing my mind...I have no hesitation that this is what I need and want but suddenly feel hyper emotional and forgetful. Djmohr 6,965 Posted August 14, 2016 @@gina171 100% normal! I remember feeling like I was in a fog that whole week before. Some of that came from the liquid diet, the other was pure disbelief that I had finally got to my goal of having surgery. Although I was slightly nervous the night before it felt like Christmas for me. I felt so exited that morning I could hardly contain myself. Now 2 years later, I am going through plastics and it feels like Christmas all over again.
