I am pre surgery and for several years I have taken a low dose aspirin due to high incidence of family heart issues as well as high BP and high cholesterol. I have had what I would insider mild varicose veins for several years. I know we aren't supposed to take aspirin or NASID after surgery so I stopped taking the low dose aspirin about a month ago. Since that time I feel like the varicose veins have become more raised and somewhat painful/uncomfortable. Has anyone else experienced this? I am also on continuous birth control pills to co trip endometriosis. I know these factors increase my risk of a clot and this scares me. Wondering if I should be switching my birth control and possibly having my varicose veins treated prior to being sleeved?

Sounds like good questions for your surgeon........

The only thing I can tell you is I had Venous Stasis in my legs prior to surgery and now 3 months later it's much much better! All the swelling is gone now and I only have a little bit of redness still in my lower legs.....and that is fading as well.

Check with your doctor about your concerns. Good luck with your up coming surgery.

Definitely discuss it with your doctor. However after surgery I am on four weeks of Lovenox injections. I give myself a shot twice a day. I have no blood clot history, it's just part of the doctors protocol. It is likely part of your doctors protocol as well.

@@buckeyegirl76 I would not stop Aspirin unless you were instructed to. Talk to your surgeon about your concerns. I'm on oral contraceptives (have high BP, fam hx of stroke, etc) and I'm waiting until my surgeon appt to find out what to do about my current meds.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
