Sweats after eating

Tonight I dared pureed chicken with a little salt and pepper mixed in. I measured out my 2oz and took forever to eat what i could. I didnt finish it feeling full and for some reason broke out in a sweat.

I have been on the slow end of trying foods. I stayed on Clear liquids longer then needed and have been taking baby steps with full liquids and pureed foods. I even bought baby foods to help me force myself into real food. I am as most of you having issues with the Protein dinks so i thought at least getting some pureed chicken in might help.

Has anyone else had issues with breaking into sweats while on this stage? Do i need to back off and continue on with babyfood? I admit today has been my daring day with foods and liquids, maybe it was just to much.

I'm too new to answer this, only 7 weeks out, but I hope some of the vets can help you. The only issue I have is if I eat too quickly, then it's a full-on disaster :(

Yup. Too much, too fast, too dry... Sweats.

My solution was adding mayo, a bit of relish and processing it almost to a purée. Even then, I could only eat a tablespoon or so. chicken thunks hard, even three years out.

Gravy, mayo, sauce... It helps the chicken go down.

I have a question about this...what's the general ratio of mayo/gravy/sauce to meat that you can add before it turns the meat into a slider food? Right now, I'm measuring and eating by quantity, not hunger, but I guess at some point my appetite is going to come back and I'm going to need to understand the impact of slider foods more then?

Edit: I have another question, can I call you Lippy? It's what I think of in my mind when I see your name, plus I wear this awesome Butter lipcolor called 'The Lippy'. It just works for me in so many ways!

Slider (for me) is carbs not fat. I don't count fat or calories, just carbs. High fat from real food (avocado, olive oil, cheeese, butter, bacon) not carby food (deep fried batter, crackers, chips) keeps me full for a long time.

I'm all about high fat, high Protein, low carb. It works.
And no, lippy is weird, unless you must. Hottie is fine, though.

@Lipsticklady.. Thanks for the info. I did make it dry only a little liquid to smooth it out. I didn't think i ate to fast took me a good half hour to get a little over half down, but i will go slower next time.

The relish isnt a no-no? I didnt think to add that or mayo, i have a homemade hatch chile relish or an onion relish I make that I would like to add but affraid the heat/spice would be to much.

Im only now a month out give or take a few days so I'm still in the I'm to scared to f&;# things up,stage.

That is a really good question about the ratios. I too would like to know about fiat.

Please share if you find any answers and i will do the same.

I am almost three years out and I had a piece of cornbread with a tiny bit of honey the other day- I had about 5-6 bites before I started sweating, and then about 5 minutes later my face was flushed, I was hot, still sweating, and my heart was beating quickly.

After surgery, like Lipstick Lady said, too much food, too fast, and sugar, does it, but for me it was also dairy, oils, and fats too. I generally don't have the hot sweats issue very often anymore but I also very rarely eat sugary stuff and I have learned after barfing a few hundred times what happens when I eat too quickly or I eat foods that have oil, sugar, or fats.

For me, it always went away in about 20 minutes and that was true the other day as well. I laid in bed for about a half hour with the fan on, panting and sweating, and it cleared up pretty quickly.

This is the first time this has happened and i wasnt sure what i had done but thanks to you ladies i am now wiser and hopefully less likely to do it again.

I honestly thought at first it was a hormonal flash as i am a 10 year member of the hysterectomy club and my hormones have been crazy since i had surgery and i dont take anything for them since i still have one ovary.

I used to add chicken stock (liquid) into my purees, as well as runny yoghurt, to make the purees moist and runny consistency.

My NutriBullet became my best friend.

Most people do not have issues with Protein drinks. Not sure where you are getting this.

The only time I sweated while eating was over the years of excess that led up to my need for wls, lol.

I'd made eating an Olympic event.

It's likely you are seeing a psychosomatic response now.....stressful times around the act of eating....anxiety amped up.....want to do things just right, etc.

I will admit I am nervous with the idea of eating and messing up all the work my doctor did. I have no desire to have to go back under the knife for this, I am already going threw the steps for more back and neck surgery.

I was never much of an eater, I was one of those who snacked on what I thought was healthy food and only ate one huge meal at diner. I also lived off coffee with Creamer. When I had to force myself to eat 3 times a day I really started to drop weight and contemplated no having surgery but decided to go threw with it because I know myself and falling back into bad habits is to easy for me.

I also was never a person to enjoy milk products so having to drink the whey Protein drinks isnt sitting well for me.

Thank you for your input and being to mind things I hadnt considered.

I get the sweats too.. Its part of it. Do not eat baby food! That is so bad for you.. My surgeon and dietition stressed the fact of not eating baby food.

Isn't this very similar if not the same as dumping syndrome. It happens if you eat to quickly or eat very sweet food.

I'm 7 weeks out and have similar symptoms if I have something sweet. It's a very unpleasant feeling.

Dumping syndrome can be triggered by different foods for different people, sometimes food that is too dry or to high in fat, but typically it's sweet food eaten to quickly.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
