I thought I was getting better yesterday as I was able to keep down chicken broth. Today I am worse than ever. I can't even keep Water down. I am so tired and weak. Just want to sleep until I am normal again. I even tried taking zofran and that's not even helping. Any advice out there?

This has been an ongoing battle for 10 weeks. I have tried everything they have given me and had every test under the sun. Also been admitted 4x for dehydration and low potassium.

Go to ER. Low potassium and dehydration is dangerous. Please keep us posted.

I also think I may have low blood sugar at this point. I drank a small glass of soda and laid down. When I woke after an hour I felt 50% better. I have to get my blood sugar checked. I also get dizzy a lot lately.

You're not getting adequate nutrition. It's very dangerous. They need to figure out how to help you.

If you literally cannot keep Water down you need to go in ASAP. And I would demand answers.

I also don't know if soda is the best thing for you to drink. That in itself that early on would have made me barf. It was on my never again list.

I am certain the dizziness is from dehydration. I would take the zofran and go back to slow sipping Water. If you don't feel better tonight, go to the ER and have them call your surgeon.

The three most important elements after weight loss surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.

You are at least 10 weeks post-op. If you can't keep Water down, you may have a stricture. If you are unable to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements, you need to seek medical attention and resolve the issue. Your problems may be caused by dehydration. They may be caused by a lack of Vitamins and minerals. It may be caused by reactive hypoglycemia. The fact that you were dizzy and took soda (sugar) rested and then felt better does point towards reactive hypoglycemia but you may have a whole slew of problems to deal with.

Here is a link to an article on reactive hypoglycemia post–gastric bypass. https://www.ridgeviewmedical.org/services/bariatric-weight-loss/enewsletter-articles/reactive-hypoglycemia-postgastric-bypass

The three most important things after surgery are fluids, Vitamins and Protein. Since you said that "when I drink Protein I throw instantly", have you tried MILK.

32 ounces of 1% milk fortified with 1 cup of powdered milk will give you 56 grams of Protein. You cannot drink this all at once but spreading this out throughout the day will help you meet your daily protein requirement.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
