Hello friends:)Yesterday I decided to have a half of orange. Wrong mistake I was so sick.I was thinking that I was sick because of the juice (considered liquid & solids together) It really sucks bc I love oranges.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

Much too soon for oranges. Too acidic for sure. Eventually you can have them but not yet.

Hi, Yes I was about 2 months post op and I craved and ate a clementine! OMG I thought I was gonna die. I'm 15 months post op now and have no desire for anything that resembles a clementine. Also I used to love Pasta & rice, I can no longer tolerate them. I try to eat them and Up they Come! So I'm leaving that alone for awhile, Lol.

They're also high in sugars and may have caused dumping. It could have been too much quantity too. I doubt it was the liquid/solid issue.

I would be it is waaaaay too soon for oranges. How far out from surgery are you?

I think I was post op 4 months before I could tolerate raw fruit of any kind. Before that I could do applesauce and also canned no added sugar fruits like pears and peaches.

Even now I have to peel my apples, pears, peaches that are fresh,

My doctor won't let me have any fruit, not even applesauce, at 8 weeks post-op. Hoping something gets introduced at my next appointment (15 weeks). I could kill someone for a bite of cantaloupe right now, but I can wait.

Definitely too much sugar. I tried a mango smoothie (Mango Lasi) and I was glued in the restroom for 30 mins (excuse the TMI). The sugar can make you dump. I've surely learned my lesson.

I had a couple of orange slices at 3 months out and barely made it home before getting sick. At now 4 years out I can eat an entire small tangerine but oranges and OJ still give me a problem.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
