Hey everyone I am 4 months post op and down 60 pounds. I feel I should have lost more by now. I have a hip issue so I have not exercised like I should so that could be the slow down. People talk about the honeymoon and having to loose the weight by 6 months how true is that? Don't get me wrong I am extremely happy with what is happening but just curious and a little nervous. Thanks in advance for all feed back

I'm 7 months out and have lost 70.. 60 in 4 is a amazing!!

I don't buy the 6 months honeymoon. Sure its easier to lose for a time period but it's definitely not limited to the first 6 months.

The best advice I have been given is not to compare myself to anyone on this journey. It will only steal your joy. We're all going to be different.

@@kelwilliams You expected to lose more than 60 lbs in 4 months? That's a pretty high expectation. I would be thrilled with that weight loss. I would not worry about the 6 month "honeymoon" period. Continue to eat properly, get your fluids and Vitamins and do whatever exercise you can (even if just short walks or chair exercise) - you will continue to lose (most likely not as quickly - but you will lose).

I am also at four months and have lost just over 60 pounds. I hit a little plateau for a couple of weeks but have started losing again. I have a problem with exercise because my knees are very bad. So it's off to the YMCA pool for some Water aerobics. It is much easier than walking or lifting weights and a whole lot more fun. There are foam "barbells" that you use to get some arm action. You do stretches and leg motions that really help you move more easily. Give it a try!

I'm three weeks out this Monday. If the scale is right, it's 18lbs since my surgery, I try to walk anywhere from one to two miles a night, is that good and any of you that have had it for a while, do you think I'll lose weight doing that kind of walking, is it enough?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
