ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted August 12, 2016 hahaha sometimes I wonder if a post is really a question that someone is looking for a real answer, or if they are just posted for our entertainment....Posts about drinking, smoking, and eating off plan always go downhill pretty quickly. I might throw something out there about Doritos and cheese dip or something, just to make my weekend more entertaining! Actually, I'm going to a beer fest tomorrow...gasp. Mostly I'm hoping for one of those little taster glasses...that's about my speed with beer right now

My member name here should be "BlueberrySconeFanatic" instead of Shelterdog...I've developed SUCH a craving for them. But in keeping with my new, virtuous lifestyle, I've been putting blueberries in my oatmeal and pretending it's a scone. Hahahaha, it's not working but I'm trying!! chocolate covered blueberry scones all around!

Me too. A total wino pre-op. The euphemism I like to use is oenophile. I haven't visited my wine collection for almost 3 months at this point. The lush tendencies are on hold indefinitely....I'll see how that goes when I get to goal.

I'm crazy for a good Napa Valley Cab. ???? I'm not ready for wine either. White wine was my surgeons first suggestion but I haven't really had anything with sugar content since surgery so I've steered clear. It's too hot for red. A nice Sancerre though.... This is wine from Carmel Valley...I got 3 pinot noirs from Talbott. They're really more my husband's wine, I'm a huge fan of big, fat Zins and Cabs :-) My favorite wines of all time are the Zinfandels that Ridge produces. I've been having them shipped to me for 20 years, yum! Right now, I've only had some Oregon pinot gris, and small amounts. For some reason wine makes me a little nervous? Candygyrl 637 Posted August 12, 2016 I had alcohol this past weekend 5 weeks post op. Class reunion. Vodka/Cranberry juice and a few Jello shots. However it never ever really hit me. I thought SHYAAT!!!! I just wasted calories for nothing! Well that's over, and I'm over it sooo I probably won't have another drink for a long while. My surgeons guidelines say no alcohol for 3 months. There was no pain, burning, or discomfort whatsoever. I just shouldn't be doing it.
Minimel 45 Posted August 12, 2016 Was dying for a coffee cake muffin so I gave in after 4 months. Was lucky I didn't throw up. But tequila after just 3 months was fine and dandy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
tony031469 81 Posted August 12, 2016 I had my first taste of wine 4 weeks ago. It was a half glass of pinot. Lemme tell you. I was really really buzzed. Lol Lasted about 30 minutes. Since then I've dabbled in some martinis as well. Didn't get sick but definitely tipsy. If you go out have a dd ready. ???? I think that's a good thing. I've always known that one small glass of incredibly good wine is satisfying enough but we've all had those nights where the bottles are flowing. I'm not looking to have one of those nights again post op for a lonnnnnng time. Plus I'm doing well and don't want to introduce the carbs/calories. But ask me again when I'm at an airport, my flight is delayed for 2 hours, and the bar is offering The Prisoner by the glass. Why do airport bars always have the best reds?!?! I'm a fan of the big fat ones too. Dark and chewy are how I like them. High fruit content. My favorite wine shop has started raving about the big Zins but I haven't tried any of them yet. You'll have to teach me about them when I'm ready! Until then it's the occasional petite glass of espolon and soda which I've somehow rendered guilt-free.
