Anyone get there out of pocket cost yet?

Sent from my SM-N930T using the BariatricPal App

I haven't. Still waiting on a call from the 'business dept' from the hospital. So I'll put this out there cause it makes zero difference to me. My individual deductible is $600, Family Deductible is $1250. We have only met maybe $150 of the Family Deductible and $0 of my individual Deductible. However, my (individual) Deductible is waived since I chose a COE facility. That leaves me with 10% of the surgery (insurance covers 90%). So I'm waiting to hear what my 10% is going to be.

Everyone's will be different as well as different states/hospitals/physicians equals different rules... my surgeons fee is 20% since I have not met my pop cost as of yet 20% is $400 which has to be paid before my date was set... then there is a facility fee from the hospital which is also 20% or what is needed to complete my out of pocket cost...

yes, mine is the same 20% the lady said 850, I am just paying at least half. upfront..

Mine is supposed to be 10%. So we shall see. I was supposed to get a call letting me know my part, but no one called. The number they gave me was never answered. I'm glad it worked out though

I was the same way. Moving at night REALLY made me aware of it. I wouldn't cough or sneeze, and I suffer from allergies pretty bad. Even when I wanted to laugh I would have to take it easy and breath through it. Now I'm 16 days out and I barely notice it. I thought the one closest to the band of my bra would give me more issues, but nope...it's the one I assume he pulled my stomach out of, almost in the center of my stomach.

You are doing great! Are you able to get all of your Protein and Water in?

yes yes yes!!! I ask my Dr about it. she said yes they pulled my stomach out of it and she stitched it twice one was my tissues and then my skin. so, pretty much it's the deep stitch that kills me...and drains my energy so bad... But thanks chickenchick I'm now waiting my 16days out to feel some what normal again!! how are you with Protein and Water intake?

So far so good. I do an Adkins right after my coffee (15g) then a Premier shake around lunch (30g) and I drink a Protein Water (20) between lunch and supper. Getting all the Protein and Water in is like a job I'm tracking everything on the MyPlate app.

Friday my schedule (provided by my surgeon and NUT) said I could have mashed potatoes, but my body said 'nope'. So I'm sticking to my cream of chicken and canned Soups. I've had homestyle chicken noodle and had a little bit of the noodles and carrots...but they are so soft it's easy to smash them on the roof of my mouth.

Any deviation of my schedule makes it hard to stay on track to get my protein and water in, so I'm trying to be vigilant. AND I think I may be going through the dreaded 3 week stall. Since Friday I gained 2.5lbs...but I haven't even eaten that many calories since my surgery so I don't even know how that's possible. I blame the mashed potatoes, I swear that's what I imagine a cleanse to be like. Who knows, maybe I'm retaining Fluid ('cause I DID suck on some sunflower seeds - my salt cravings are crazy. I sort of feel wasteful not eating the seeds, but I'm terrified after the mashed potato debacle).

Nonetheless I'm gonna keep trucking.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
