You know, when I was 25, I'd rather plug my ears with cotton than listen to country. After you hit 35, you become more open to new things. I know, sounds counter to popular belief that people become more fixed in their ways as they age, but I find that not to be the case for me and most of the people from my generation (X generation).

You know i am very eclectic i love everything from jazz to blues hip hop rap pop alternative rock in many forms and even a little classical, old school world reggae and recently i have found a liking to some group that is a fusion of a few types of music i have yet to identify. But i cant ever see myself listening to country... i don't know for some reason it has always been a game killer for me... as soon as that oh so familiar tune is played its like i am compelled by nature to leave the club/bar/ or party in search for a better venue.

Watcher - you've given me quite a few laughs this morning - thank you!

The mental picture of your ears bleeding at country music - you poor thing! Hope it's all better now!

Had to post to give you big props on your loss - that's fantastic!

I agree with you on the 'wider musical tastes' issue, Dionna - I never listened to classical music until I took a ballet class in college - now I love it. Like Watcher, I never listened to country before, now because my DH is a fan, I listen to it sometimes (mostly in his truck since he controls the radio) but we both still like bumpin' to R&B, a lot of rap, jazz, and some of the 'oldies but goodies' that both of us would have laughed at when we were younger...:smile2:

All good ...fixed my ears up with a little Lenny Williams followed by a double shot of teddy p and closed it all off with kanye, pac, and nirvana.... i know odd combo but it works

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
