Watch and See

Recommended Posts

As of my last weighing I am down 111lbs. Next Tuesday I will be eight months post op. My goal has always been to lose 150lbs by twelve months post op. That means I have a little over a four months to lose 39lbs. I think that I can make it. I understand based on what my dietitian has told me and what I read online that some bariatric patients do not even get to a normal BMI. I am not sure what the numbers are in that regards, but what does that have to do with me. I have lost 74% of my excess body weight. I have heard that once a bariatric patient losses 50% of their body weight they are a success. What that means is that I am already a success as far as they are concerned. I will be at 150lbs or close thereof by the end the year (I had surgery last December). If you have the same conviction about write me a comment.

Just watch and see...

Well done and Congratulations! Awesome result!

I am 1Ib away from being a sleeve success. I lost 60Ibs 5 months post op.

Well, my revised goal is another 22Ibs down, and my stretch goal is 33Ibs away.

I most certainly don't want to stop at my current weight.

I want to keep losing until I reach my goal, then maintain it.

My motivation is like yours, so I wish you all the best! We can do it :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
