You ever test your sleeve out on something you've been craving to see if you can tolerate it even though its forbidden from your diet? I have... and it was a terrible guilty feeling followed by dumping syndrome..... First time trying regular food... and its most definitely the last time for a WHILE

Nope. Have no desire to test my sleeve because I dont want a complication. I trust my doctor and his advice and plan have worked well for me. I am 7 weeks out and haven't had any issues.

I ate meat and bread at the end of my second week. The results were instant. Chocking, feeling nauseated and throwing up slime.. I did not dare touch anything until I was supposed to after that. I am greatful for that unpleasant incident because it reminds you to stay on track. My insurance did not pay for this surgery so I keep reminding myself that I paid that money to get healthy. I do not need to behave irresponsible now.

I can and I will.

For us, nothing is forbidden, just advised against having it in excess.... everything in moderation and balanced with good foods.

I have tried bread (was ok, but filling), rice noodles (omg worst feeling ever, heavy and cramping, never again), all types of meat (perfect), sausages (my sleeve hates them), chocolate (no dumping)..

But as a disclaimer, when i tried these things it was a very small amount, literally 1/4 bread roll, 2 tbs noodles, 1 chocolate piece.... so i wouldn't know how larger quantities of them would be like, and i don't plan to find out! Lol

I tried ice cream at 4 months post op and it made me sick and have no desire to try it again.

I've tried bread and it's not as good as I remember

I've always hated rice, unless it was sushi but I had sushi and it didn't sit well, even just the 2 slices of a roll.

I stuck to my 6 week restriction gradual diet, all of these "test" were when I was cleared for regular food.

chocolate at 4 weeks gave me a horrendous acid foaming attack, so painful and scary. Haven't touched it since!

At 4 months I tried a scone/muffin with butter, this gave me bad nausea and indigestion. Haven't touched any bakery stuff since.

I dumped shortly after I ate a scrambled egg, couple of months ago, and after beef mince, around the same time.

Haven't touched eggs of beef since, but tried veal mince, and that was OK.

So, I am sticking mostly with fish and chicken or turkey, non starchy vegetables, yoghurt, fruit and healthy crisps with cottage or cream cheese, plus Protein powder. These are the safe foods for me.

Yes I've tested the sleeve... I'm not going to say I was easily influenced by members here who were eating things early on I thought would end in immediate death. I had the fear of God in me as I shouldve.

But I Also learned quickly, how successful you are depends on the choices we make. Like another poster mentioned why go through all this to sabotage yourself? It quickly snaps you back into the reality that you truly have to DO THE WORK CHILE. The sleeve helps reinforce where we would've gone off track.

BTW Cottage cheese tastes like vomit. Ijs.

I love cottage cheese. I started a thread on here a while back that has a lot of suggestions. My favorites:

Plain

Plain with crushed black pepper

Plain with picante sauce

Plain with sliced ripe Tomato and crushed black pepper

Plain with ripe tomato, artichoke hearts, Kalamata olives, feta, peppers (sort of like a Greek salad)

Dress it like a salad

Make it like a dip. I have a good Greek herb mix that I mix in

Etc, etc

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
