Recommended Posts

Has anyone who had an Achilles injury noticed improvement in daily pain after surgery?? I am hoping getting weight off will help. This winter i almost ruptured both of my Achilles tendons and have been babied it since. I have seen a foot doc and have orthotics but it is still just there. Thanks

I had a calcified Achilles and three ankle surgeries, and I have noticed an improvement. Before surgery I had trouble walking for long, and now I can easily walk three miles almost every day. One thing I did prior to surgery is I got a prescription for Tramadol (pain killer) that was stronger than Tylenol so I had a true pain killer that was Gastric sleeve approved. Before I lost much weight I would use the Tramadol to cut the pain after exercise, so I could keep going the next day. I'm down 50lbs now, and I rarely have to take Tramadol or anything else after exercise now. I hope that helps.

I had ruptured my Achilles twice in 15 years. Lots of pain before surgery. Did not believe I would ever walk pain free much less jog. I don't have any pain almost 2 years out from my surgery and am jogging 25 miles a week. Took about 3 months before I started to notice pain going away and built strength back in my ankle. Been jogging for 18 months, started by walking. Good luck

you need to shorten the achilles, not stretch it, and let it rest. Try a heel pad in the shoe and stay off the foot as much as possible. Rest, Ice, Ibuprofen...and time...may take a week or 2. If no better by than, see your soctor, you may have partially ruptures it or injured something else. Good Luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
