Running Shoes for Big Feet

Recommended Posts

I am in the market for a good pair of running shoes. I currently wear a 14 wide (down from 15 wide pre-surgery). Most stores around me only carry up to size 13 and wides are even harder to find so it looks like I will have to order online.

Any other big footed guys out there have any recommendations?

Hi there, you tiny foot guy you! Congrats on the progress! I am a 18 EW. I go to the New Balance website and order directly. They have a wide range of running/athletic shoes in varying prices. I have found that due to still being a big guy, the higher priced ones are by far the best for me. Darn. But, many of the NB are made in the US, I also like Dunham shoes (also made by NB) which really are made for big guys, not just little guy shoes stretched out.

14W here, too.

Brooks are outstanding.

So are Hoka One One.

Very comfortable shoes. Best I've ever worn.

Thanks guys. I run in a pair of New Balance right now and they seem to be holding up pretty well but the fit is just not quite right.

My friend recommended the Brooks too. I will check them out.

Cool.

Whichever brand you order.......I highly suggest you go to their website and complete their "fit" or "stride" analysis.

It really will help guide you in to the model that is best for you. Both Brooks and Hoka have really good versions of this, iMHO.

Well I sadly have not been blessed with BIG feet, but I do have wide feet. If memory serves me right NB shoes come come as a model number and once you did find a pair you liked, it would make it easier to purchase that same model on line (I hate shopping). I use Merrells, because of the arch support. Since my surgery, my feet have changed and now can fit comfortably in regular width shoes, I am currently on my second pair of my new shoes, I still wear an old pair, for out door lawn/garden work (they are very loose). Good luck on your choice... keep moving

I wear a size 14 also. We have a nike factory store here in Vegas that carries larger sizes so that's a good source, although Nike seems to run narrow a lot. I use Zappo's quite a bit. It's a bit of a hassle to have to buy before you try them on, but they have an easy return policy so if you need to switch or return something, it's typically painless. Also, the reviews on the site are very helpful and most people will mention if the sizes are "true" or run big/small/narrow/wide, which also helps.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
