Eating slow but not slow enough

Recommended Posts

One thing Im struggling 6 weeks post op is eating slow. I eat my portions but have to remind myself to take time. I notice Im eating too fast because I get 1 hiccup also happens when am almost full. This is a struggle. And does anyone get a bit hungry at night? This has been happening to me lately.

Yes & Yes.

I still eat too fast. I need to learn to slow down, but more importantly, I need to learn not to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders and relax a little more. I am trying to get myself to that level of "Zen" but, old habits die slowly.

I also get hungry at night too. Try to have a low calorie, good Protein snack since Protein takes longer to digest or some other low calorie snack or a Protein shake if you are low on protein for the day.

Maybe have a low/zero calorie beverage first to make sure it isn't due to thirst.

Also, old habits die slowly. I also use to snack at night a lot too, but am much better now.

Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for your response. I feel better now knowing am not the only one. Breaking some habits are harder than I thought. I will def take up on the tips you gave me so hopefully I stop getting hungry at night.

@@4u2nvyme I am pre-op but people recommend eating with baby utensils and putting them down in between bites. I'm a night eater by habit (not out of hunger) - I've been having sugar free popsicles which seem to help.

I have the kids utensils but I stopped using it but I will start right now that is close to my diner. And I have the popsicles just never thought about it. I will try that tonight for sure and see if it helps.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm 5 months post op and I definitely eat too fast. To the point where it causes pain. I keep telling myself to slow down but haven't yet. Smh! I will get there eventually.

Tonight I ate with the kid spoons and I didnt get the hiccups so it looks like that might work to slow down my eating.
