If you dont mind telling us what the diagnosis is I would be interested in knowing if it is what I had?

I was diagnosised with Bile Reflux at the 1 year mark after not eating for 5 weeks, throwing everything up daily and being nauseous 24/7 . My surgeon, Dr Minkin told me I was just fine. I looked like death warmed over at that point. I told him I wanted to be referred for a second opinion to Barnes Hosp. He refused stating he was far too busy to send an email or call the surgeon. The Barnes surg would not see me unless he talked with Minkin. He would only refer me to his partner. After Dr Scott did an upper endoscopy I was told I had Bile Reflux. I was put on medications (4) and very slowly began getting better. After living in bed for almost a year my muscled atrophied. I was in physical therapy for 3 months before I started gaining my strength back. I lost a total of 170 but have gained 10 pounds back. Went fron 330 to 170. My surg was 3-19-2014. Now that I have been reálitively healthly for awhile it really feels good. Here is an idea of what my first year was like . I had metastatic cancer at 16 with 3 years of aggressive radiation treatments. In 1999 had a recurrance

Continued....and additional radiation. The first year after my sleeve surgery was worse than all my cancer treatments put together. And to top it off I had drs telling me they didnt believe my complaints. I felt vindicated after my oringinal drs partner figured out what was wrong with me! That dr has since moved out of town and I see a GI specialist for my follow up.

Hi I'm sorry to hear about your complications. I will pray that everything works out for you. I am new to this group and I am just curious being as to what is normal pain after gastric sleeve? I had my surgery 8/1 and I am currently on a puree diet. However I feel that I may have recently eaten something that may have been "too heavy" for my stomach to handle. Last night I had ground beef with some broth. I have been craving some meat, I needed a changed from my liquids and Soups so I figured it would be okay. But I feel a lot of weird pains in my stomach and it's not coming from my incision area either so I'm really scared. I have to also point out that for the past two days I've had weird pains off and on after doing some extensive house cleaning where I was bending down a lot. Is this pain normal? Can anyone please share their opinions/experiences with pain post op? I've been trying to get a hold of my doctors and nurse all day now with no luck so I'm debating whether I should go to the er or not. I've haven't been throwing up, or have had blood in my stool. I have been feeling dizzy but I think it's bc I am panicking just a little. Should I be worried and go check myself out or are these pains normal to have on week 3 post op?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
