I'm not able to have soy or dairy - so for protein powders, has anyone tried the egg white protein powders? Which ones are good?

Recommended Posts

Hello all - I'm probably at the 80% sure I'll get this surgery so I'm starting to think and prepare for Protein powders for after surgery. I've discovered that egg white Protein Powder is an option for those that can't have soy or dairy. I also read that whey protein is low in lactose and could be an option.

Is there anyone here that has tried the egg protein powder? Is it good? And if anyone is lactose intolerant has whey protein been tried successfully?

Thank you!

(I'll be self-pay so I believe that I may not have to wait as long to get the surgery - therefore preparing ahead of time)

If you're looking for an alternative, I use a vegan, rice Protein based powder that I really like. http://amzn.to/2aEbxil

Worth a try!

I think Jay Robb Egg White Protein is the one I have heard people here recommend. I use Precision Engineered whey Protein Isolate which is 99% lactose free. Might be worth trying that one.

I became lactose intolerant after RNY gastric bypass surgery. This condition lasted for a couple months. I used "Muscle Milk Light (vanilla creme) Protein powder blended with Water and a half a banana.

There are Hemp and pea based Protein powders out there as well to lengthen your selection.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
