I am 6 weeks post of and my leftover stomach is making all kinds of noises. It's almost like it is growling from hunger but there are no hunger pains. Is that normal? Also, I don't have any appetitie so how do I know when I am hungry? Thanks.

I had a lot of gurgles for like a good 6 months. Then it just suddenly stopped. It was never any kind of problem nor did I have any issues that could have been related to it. As for knowing when you're hungry, you may not ever know unless you've gone far enough that you're having physical symptoms of calorie deficiency. After surgery, it makes more sense to eat a set amount on a schedule, whether you are hungry or not, and stop after you have eaten that planned amount, whether you are full or not. Hunger and fullness are no longer what should be driving your eating habits. It should now be about planning and eating on time, and eating the right things in the right amounts. After a while, the plans you have to be careful to follow become routine, and viola! You've made a huge lifestyle change successfully, and it's going to pay off in a big way for the rest of your life, which will now be longer because you're healthy. Good luck to you! It gets easier! :D

I'm 3 months post op and mine makes all kinds of noises.

I feel hungry like I did pre op but now I just can't eat a lot. I eat maybe 3 spoons full at a time. I also eat about every three hours. I still have Protein drinks because I know I'm not getting enough with my food intake

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
