I just got banded 11 days ago. Most of my incisions are healing really well, but one of them is causing me a lot of problems it really is uncomfortable, it isn't my port incision, but I am starting to wonder if it is infeected. Any advice?

Ashley-

Congrats on getting banded! In my case, my port incision had issues healing compared to my other incisions. Turned out that the seristrips weren't falling off by itself so air wasn't getting to the incision to heal up. I called my dr. for fear of infection and he said to take the seristrips off and make sure it's clean and gets air. It looks to be healing better now.

When I asked about how to tell when it's an infection, my dr. said if it starts to get red around the incision and spreads over time, if it is pussing and oozing green stuff and if you get a fever then call your dr. to have him look at it because those are some signs of infection.

I hope this helps. Remember though, if you have any worries, don't hesitate to call your dr. and ask about it!

I fell the same way. My large incision was hurting longer then the other ones. I go to the doc on friday for my first follow up. It is one of the things to ask him about. i had surgey on the 15 and it is still a little tender. I am single and staying with a friend until I can go back to work and I had her look at my incision and she said it does not look infected. I am still worried it is a little red and bumpy. I do not have any discarge or puss. Also no fever. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to here them.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
