mercedes620 39 Posted August 9, 2016 I had my surgery on June 27th (RNY) and I feel great! I have even been introducing new foods and exercising, getting Protein as well as getting my Water in as directed. For the past 2 and half weeks I have lost and gain the same 2 pounds and it's driving me nuts!!! I don't know if I'm not getting in enough calories or what I'm doing wrong. Please help!!! I have lost a total of 33 pounds since surgery but I have my 6 week appt with my surgeon next week and I would like to have made more progress since my 1 week appointment. You mention calories (without specifics) but not Protein.< /p> The most important numbers are fluids and protein. What is your protein target? Are you consuming at least that amount of protein every day? Are you getting AT LEAST 64 oz of Fluid every day? Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. We all experience stalls. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight then you need to be prepared to experience stalls. PRINCESS2218 56 Posted August 9, 2016 Same with me little weight lost. I am starting to give up on this believing, after having Bariatric surgery you can have a major weight lost. I do not believe it. Bariatric surgery does not work for everyone.

I do not believe it. Bariatric surgery does not work for everyone. What weight did you start at?How far out are you? How much have you lost? How much Protein are you getting? How about fluids? Bariatric Surgery does work - you need to follow your plan. The weight comes off. You may have unrealistic expectations of how fast - but if you use the tools given to you - you'll lose. heidikat72 935 Posted August 9, 2016 I get it, we all want to see the scale keep moving and posting big losses. Guess what? 33lbs in less than 6 weeks IS a big loss! You are doing great! I had a follow up with my surgeon this morning - 7.5 weeks out and guess what? 33lbs down. He and the nutritionist were very happy with my progress as was my primary doc yesterday. As you should be with your progress! Stalls happen, and then they break - ISG's "embrace the stall" post is a great read for everyone at this stage. Rather than getting upset with a stall, use it as a chance to take a look at what you are doing to make sure you haven't strayed. Keep working the process and the process will work for you. catwoman7 11,220 Posted August 9, 2016 everyone stalls occasionally - and after the first month or so, weight loss slows quite a bit. After my initial drop, I lost 8-12 lbs a month for about the first six or seven months, then I dropped to about 6-8 lbs a month. Now I'm lucky to lose five (14 months out). But I've lost almost 200 lbs altogether, so it *does* add up! Just stick to your program and the weight will come off.

I do not believe it. Bariatric surgery does not work for everyone. What does "little weight loss" mean? I'm sometimes surprised at what people call "too little weight loss". WLS does not magically create turbo-fast metabolisms. To burn 1 lbs of body fat a certain amount of energy has to be expended, surgery or not.

Djmohr 6,965 Posted August 9, 2016 @@PRINCESS2218 Can you give us more information? I have yet to see Bariatric surgery fail if one does what they are supposed to. We would like to help you work through it but without more data that is hard to do. What was your starting weight? Where are you now? What does your daily Protein, Water and Vitamin intake look like? Are you walking or exercising? Are you open to helping yourself work through this? You have a great group of people here that have been through nearly every scenario. What were your original expectations? Some people believe they will go have the operation and then they are at goal. WLS is definately not an instant gratification surgery but, if you do your part it will work. We would love to help you but you have to open your mind and provide some info. Best of luck to you. Cervidae 2,389 Posted August 10, 2016 @@PRINCESS2218 what makes you say it isn't working? You're a month or less out from surgery... there's no way to know if it's "not working" yet. Besides that fact, I've truly never seen a single person for whom the surgery simply did not result in weight loss. I see people gain weight back, and enter maintenance before they are at target weight, and so on, but there is literally no way medically possible that weight loss surgery could result in not losing weight, especially for the first year, and especially if you are following all the rules. I'd love to hear your story, though. Have you been getting in all your Protein and Water? Are you taking your Vitamins? Are you doing at least a little exercise every day? The people here want to help you, but you need to tell us more about what is bothering you before we can assist.
