ttdish 315 Posted August 9, 2016 My social life has improved! I don't get out much because I have a husband who travels a lot and a toddler. But when I do get out, it's so much more fun, since I actually feel good about myself. If I'm out on a social occasion, I'll have one drink before dinner, and just order something small for dinner. AvaFern 3,516 Posted August 9, 2016 No regrets at all. To be fair, I'm not a big goer-outer, mostly because I work a lot, but now when I go out I look fabulous (clearly I'm very modest) so I don't care that I can't eat a lot or drink much. Any amount of enjoyment I had for food and beverages is entirely replaced by the fun in getting dressed to go out and knowing that I look like a normal person out having a good time. Christinamo7 4,042 Posted August 9, 2016 not for me, but I never was big on cocktail parties. I am FAR MORE likely to go out after work to a hockey game, or football or something like hiking - canoeing - than I was before, so even though I tend to be a homebody, I suppose I am out and about with my friends more now than before. as for eating out, I have yet to find a place that doesn't have some kind of acceptable option for me, so there is always something I can have, and it takes me as long to eat my little bit as it does someone else to eat their larger portion. Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 9, 2016 I used to dread going out because I worried about fitting in booths or in those tiny plastic patio chairs. Now I am so much more confident and actually look forward to going out! Also, I don't need to shovel a six course meal into my face to enjoy myself anymore
4u2nvyme 96 Posted August 9, 2016 Im 6 weeks out and I miss it a bit but I know it gets better as time passes and that later on I will be allowed to atleast a couple of drinks. All in times worth. But Im happy because Im looking so much better than before 40lbs down and now Im even dressing way cuter as my coworkers say lol. provenzee 262 Posted August 9, 2016 I went out all the time before surgery, and I still go out now. I eat what I can, and offer the rest to friends and family or save it for another day. It has improved my social life because I am more confident, talkative, and much happier
higher 966 Posted August 9, 2016 I had the surgery a month ago and I've already gone on vacation with friends, partied all night at a music festival, gone out to group dinners and a couple of cocktail parties....and at each one I felt more fabulous, energetic and confident than I did before. Seriously I can dance all night all of a sudden. I don't think people really notice who is eating/drinking what at parties.
Jcannon 7 Posted August 9, 2016 I wouldn't worry about social life. I worried about it, then my wife told me it will still be a social life but better! I drank all the time cause i hate myself. I hated going to resteraunt because of booths. Sporting events... not with those cramp seats!! Now i can look forward to hiking and skydiving and canoeing. And sports!!! Being social with the kind of people who know how to live life!!!! I cant wait to be happy and start living finally!!! Worrying is for the birds! Pup 217 Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) Do any of you regret what having the sleeve has done to your social life? Like cocktails and dinner out with friends? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I can't say that I have any regrets ( I had RNY 10 weeks ago) but it is a lot different now for me. I'm not that chatty of a person and I use to use a couple glasses of wine to loosen me up ...so I do really miss that. A few months from now I'll be able to try some wine again and I would be lying if I didn't tell you I was really excited about that. When going out to eat I'm so worried about eating the wrong thing that it does make that a little bit of a challenge too. PixTheCakeDestroyer 31 Posted August 9, 2016 Nope, I do all that stuff and have a way better time, and I managed to ditch the fake friends along the way. Sent from my SM-J320P using the BariatricPal App
Sophie74656 1,572 Posted August 9, 2016 My socail life hasn't changed much. I'm an introvert without many friends so I don't go out much, and I don't drink. But the times I have gone out nobody noticed or cared how little I ate. Just don't draw attention to it and nobody notices.
momof3boyz 2 Posted August 11, 2016 My social life was good before and now 3 months later it's better. I don't feel as self conscious as I did before ) and when I'm out to dinner I just split with my husband. Works out great.
