charley27 164 Posted August 8, 2016 I'm on stage 3 now and I'm allowed saltines, can I have cheese itz? I'm having a hard time eating and only get in about 300 calories a day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
suzzzzz 1,005 Posted August 8, 2016 My surgeon gave me a list of crackers that he allows and cheezits are not on it. They probably have more fat and carbs. Can always ask your nut.
Valentina 2,642 Posted August 9, 2016 That is a question for your nutritionist/bariatric team. BUT: I would think ----NO Crackers are just too tempting with too many carbs with very little benefit. I am five years out and still treat crackers --especially Cheetos!---like the plague! Really though, give your team a call. They will be able to guide you on your specific plan. AvaFern 3,516 Posted August 9, 2016 I eat Cheez-its sometimes. I eat goldfish crackers everyday. I also remember that shortly after surgery crackers that had too much flavor (which is usually higher fat content) made me super sick. In theory, if you can eat saltines you're fine eating Cheez-its, but they are more likely to make you sick than boring, bland saltines.
chycky 671 Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) I have 3 saltines on my plan for some "meals" hummus or chicken salad. Sometimes I just have parmasean crisp instead less carbs when I have saltines I get the whole grain premium brand (the main nabisco saltine brand but with whole grain) or Annie's brand. Crackers are a big area of conflicting opinion as much as my team is conservative on many things I have them as an option on my soft meal phase I am confident that cheese it's would not be allowed they have little nutritional value and a lot more calories, sodium and fat. UCLA man 101 Posted August 9, 2016 Cheez it's are good. Baked and 3g Protein. Just chew well to a paste like consistency.
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted August 9, 2016 Stick with the cheese, drop the itz part. Soft cheese if you like it, on a spoon, not a cracker.

gina171 626 Posted August 9, 2016 cheese Itz are baked yes, but the have 8 grams of fat per serving. That's the same amount of fat as Doritos, which start out as fried tortilla chips. I would stay away from them bc of the fat alone. How about string cheese, or a mini baby bel cheese, so you get some nutrition as well? hillij25 31 Posted August 9, 2016 Google low carb cheese crisps. Seriously you put little bits of cheese in the oven and they come out tasting just like cheese itz! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
UCLA man 101 Posted August 9, 2016 String cheese is not a cracker. She asked about crackers. Sometimes you just want to have a crunch.
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted August 9, 2016 String cheese is not a cracker. She asked about crackers. Sometimes you just want to have a crunch. Sometimes you just want to drink a beer, smoke a cigarette and eat a large pizza, too, but it's not always the best idea.
UCLA man 101 Posted August 9, 2016 again, she asked about crackers. She didn't ask for the 'best idea'
