reducer623 137 Posted August 8, 2016 Hello Sleevers! I tried to search for this specific thread but didn't find anything. I will be 4 weeks post op Thursday. I have a workout regimen of high incline & high speed 30 mins treadmill walk everyday and I'm healing really well. My doctor cleared me for regular exercise so I began strength training today (squats & arm workouts so far) but I was curious about using a floor ab roller and crunches. Is it too early? Please share your experiences. Much appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Christinamo7 4,042 Posted August 8, 2016 I was cleared for whatever exercise I wanted at 4 weeks - and my doctor was very specific about it. If you were also cleared you will be fine, just ease into more strenuous workouts. :-) the main thing is you do not want to create too large of a calorie deficit as it will slow down your weight loss - so track your workout and intake. Thanks & Oh no! It's already slow I wouldn't want that lol. I was a low BMI (35) & now stalling so I'm trying to everything to help the pounds shed. I've been using the Baritastic app & I consume about 80 grams of Protein & average between 530-600 calories per day. What are your thoughts on that? Christinamo7 4,042 Posted August 8, 2016 I think your calories need to increase before you add too much cardio, but some ab tightening shouldn't burn too many calories. I like to do yoga or pilates for core strength. I like to keep my calorie deficit not more than 800 calories or so. seems to be the sweet spot for me, although stalls still happen. Your body has a lot to do in the weight loss process and not all of it shows on the scale.
reducer623 137 Posted August 8, 2016 I'll increase to 800 and see how that works. I became a machine overnight lol. I hated exercise before now, it seems like I can't get enough lol. Thank you so much! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Christinamo7 4,042 Posted August 8, 2016 I mean that I try to keep my calorie deficit at about 800 calories a day. if I am trending less active I eat less, if I am trending more active I add a Protein based snack. so you will need to track both intake and exercise to see how many calories you should have before adding more activity. And ask your NUT if you feel like you can do more and loose weight. I don't know that the "sweet spot" is the same for everyone.
