it's hard to top chicken breast on protein grams/per calorie right?

Recommended Posts

Just looking at grilled chicken breast per oz on MFP:

37 calories

7 g Protein

1 g fat

Any foods that can beat that? No wonder bodybuilders live off this stuff.

It is a staple in my diet, the secret is spicing it up. Play around with all the stuff @@Dub posts. There are some great rubs which help lock in moisture and flavor. Or if you just want to be simple put powdered hidden valley ranch on it. Tastes really good.

often on the weekends I put a bunch in the crock pot and then divide it into servings for the week. Each day I can add spices or different cheese depending on what kind of food I want to eat (like italian one day, mexican another day, greek.... etc)

or other times I marinate in lime olive oil and cilantro and grill. that's pretty good right there.

I'm too early post-op to care too much about flavor but these are great suggestions @@Christinamo7 @@OKCPirate

Ugh except the ranch! I don't think I've ever had hidden valley anything in my life, for some reason it totally turns me off.

I'm partial to creole seasoning myself.

I've actually been buying it pre-cooked and cut from the local organic grocery delivery service. The laziest. 6 oz in a container and I just pull a third of the container out for work lunch each day.

Grilled chicken breast ????

Oh yeah.....I'm a fan. Great & tasty source of Protein for a sleever. Sliced, diced or shredded with rubs and/or sauces. All good.

Take a cup of Kosher salt and add Water to a bowl. Let the breast rest in the brine for an hour before drying and cooking. Locks in the moisture. Tastes awesome.

**edit- doesn't actually lock moisture in, it draws moisture in and make it juicier.

My nut says most meats have roughly 7g protein/ ounce but some cuts of beef have more. I never ate much beef before surgery so I stick with a lot of chicken and fish.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
