When people tell you you're taking the easy way out......

Agree with him. You are not close enough for him to understand how you got here. Tell him he is right. Remind him of all the easy choices and lucky breaks you have had,(Especially if you have had tragic times you can spin,) If you were lucky enough to ever be abandoned, sick, or poor, then you had sooo many God-given opportunities to keep things simple. My kids and I wrote our own holiday music, which we still sing. This God-given joy came from no radio/stereo music player! Also though, insist on credit for your cleverness. Your lazy, cop-out, flawed path belongs to you. You can't help it if he chose to fight windmills even when it was so hard. You were smart enough to wait until the right time for you

You can choke on his superiority, or plant sly seeds of doubt until he chokes on himself.

Thank you for those inspirational words Ava! If I ever had any doubts or double checking my choice to have WLS, you just cleared them up. Ava, you are 100% right and I do feel grateful for this opportunity!

I had my mom tell me at a family gathering shortly after my VSG that sure it's easy to lose weight when you cheat and have your stomach shrunk. The thinner I became, I was down to 182 lbs, she would tell me how sick I looked. It's no wonder I put some back on. But no one, except those who know the struggle, will understand why we did this. There is no "easy way out". Every day is a struggle. The same as it was when we would try to lose weight before our surgery. We will never be able to let our guard down, or have a normal relationship with food. I bite my tongue almost clean off when I hear people refer to WLS as "cheating" or a "cop out". Keep your head up! You have made a great decision to improve your life. Be proud of that! We are all in this together here!

See I don't know if I could be that restrained. Luckily, I haven't really had to find out.

It's not an easy decision that we've made. Most of here have dropped loads of pounds, tried every weight loss pill and/or program/regimen & still gained it all came back with new friends (more pounds).

Stand strong in your decision regardless of what. There will always be nay sayers but ultimately it your life, your decision & you are better off because of it. We all are! Our body & Our health thanks us for it.

Be encouraged and congrats on changing your life for the best! Continue to write your own story

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
