I know we all have differing pre op liquid diets but could yall give me a few tips and pointers? My liquid diet is 2 weeks of Protein Shakes, clear and cream Soups (strained) sugar free Jello and pudding and yogurt. Any combinations that were tasty and filling for yall? I have Isopure unflavored Protein powder to mix into pretty much everything i eat so getting my protein in wont be a huge issue. Just looking for a few creative ideas that will make this a little easier. Thanks in advance for your responses!!

My tips are just to make sure you take advantage of everything you are allowed to consume. Now is not the time to restrict and deprive yourself. Crushed ice and sugar-free Popsicles can give you crunch.

I think avoiding hunger, is all about the spacing of your shakes and Clear liquids in between. I'm kind of surprized that I didn't go off the deep end. Granted months before I got off caffeine. Now that was the week from hell. For me its not about "getting in my protein". My plan is 3 Protein shakes replacement meals must be at least 20 grams, Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mostly they are 30 grams, once in a while I'll have the muscle milk one that is 42 grams and my slim fasts are 20 grams. Mostly I drink the ready to drink and they are 11 ounces. I'm start with a Decaf tea and then a broth in between one, lots of Water, and a frozen SF Popsicle. I tend to be hungry around 3 or 4 in the afternoon, so I'll have a clear liquid.

The best way to avoid hunger is to just keep busy. two days ago, I packed up all my fattest clothes for Goodwill. I've already dropped 19 pounds.

Today is my last day of shakes. Tomorrow its all Clear Liquids to end the day with 30ml of milk of magnesia. (YUCK  . I'd imagine tomorrow will not be a good day for me. I'll be teleworking today and tomorrow. I find that much better so I'm not around others eating, talking, planning what they'll be eating for lunch.

Tips ?

Drink the shakes only.

Skip on the cream of whatever Soups and everything else.

Drink tons of Water in between the shakes.< /p>

Break away from food period. For me....it was similar to quitting smoking years back. By doing shakes only for the 14 day pre-op, I was able to avoid the kitchen, not cook, not be tempted and to get away from food in general. Same thing for the immediate post-op period.

It was great.

A clean break from food.

Later.....post-op, I was able to return foods and it was without any guilt and has been this way ever since.

My pre op diet helped shrink my liver for surgery, sure, but even more it helped me psychologically move away from food. I stuck with clear broth and Protein shakes. It wasn't pleasant but it wasn't impossible. My post op diet was very easy because I practiced compliance in the pre op stage. My tip is to embrace it and use it as a starting place for your new relationship with food.< /p>

I made my own broth, the broth I make for chicken Soup. It is significantly tastier than that stuff from the can, or from a cube! I also occasionally used a low-cal, low-fat greek yogurt to make a smoothie instead of having aNOTHER Protein shake. It really helped. I like the Syntrex nectar whey Protein isolate shake powders; they come in SO many different flavors. Really breaks up the boredom of the shakes.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
