Any stories of tortoise vs hare?

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I had the surgery in April...I have lost 30 pounds since then.My doctor won't adjust me above 8cc/10cc band b/c he says I'm in my green zone.

Is it wrong to want to strap 5 pound weights to each of my ankles and go in next week!!!!!

I am wondering...

Did anyone have a slow start at the beginning but finish strong? (hence tortoise/hare?)

Anyone care to share their inspiring story about possibly fighting their demons in the beginning but evetually winning the race.

(I coulde use the encouragement)

Take Care

A lot of people go on plateaus and don't lose for awhile and then drop a few all of a sudden. That's the good thing about the band. It's always working.

If you are getting really hungry in between meals, you need a fill.

The band is not a magic cure. You still have to eat right and fight head hunger.

I would also like to hear from people that were slow out of the gate, but are at their sweet spot now and doing well...

I know all the "not a magic cure" stuff...It's just that some of us 'newbies' to the band get a little discouraged during the first few months while we wait to get to the proper restriction. Hearing from veteran's who've been there is very inspirational to us slow starters :)

There is a thread called Slow Losers Unite. Go and read that thread. There are a lot of us that are very slow losers. It's very frustrating. I just have to keep telling myself that I would be heavier by now, so no matter what I have lost, it's a step in the right direction.

The person that started this thread has lost almost as much as I have, and I have had the band almost 8 months now. I am losing really slowly, but I am happy to be losing and not gaining anymore.

I really don't know what I think when it comes to the tortoise/hare issue. I know the problem that I have that seems to be pretty common is that we should be doing more. My boyfriend wants to kick my butt sometimes!

I usually eat very healthy and sometimes, my band is more open than other times and I can eat more than I normally would (especially w/ salad). I beat myself up for eating a "right" bandster portion rather than what I feel I should have. I got so caught up in my own success that the end result was all that matters.

I exercised for about 9-11 hours a week and when I plateaued, I beat myself up. I run, I lift, I'm strong, and I'm physically fit... I sustained overuse injuries and had to cut my workouts back to 5-7 hours a week.

I'll be honest - I never thought I would say this but I can see how someone could develop an eating disorder... :)

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
